Praise Him With Your Whole Heart

So, this blog is probably gonna be a bit scattered just because this has been on my heart for the past couple of weeks, and I just couldn't find the words to say. But, after pondering on it for a while, and doing some research, I think I can finally sit down and write up a blog for y'all! On my phone I have the "Bible by Tecarta" app, and it notifies each morning with a daily Bible verse. A couple weeks back I woke up to Mark 7:20-23, and God quickly laid it on my heart to read that whole chapter. So, I did, and wow. It's one of those moments where you know you've been praying for something, and God just finally shows you what to do, or how to fix it. Anyone else know how that feels? When I came to verse 6, I began to cry. It says: "He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrisies, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me." I'd recently been praying for God to help me grow closer to him, and after reading this verse, He told me exactly why I couldn't. God goes "Tatum, you have a heart problem. You need to serve me with your WHOLE heart. Not half, but WHOLE!" So, I'm gonna start off by giving y'all some definitions of the heart, and go from there. I hope someone gets something great out of this! I just want to be a help to those with the same heart condition I had.

I googled the definition of 'heart', and of course the first one is an organ that pumps blood. But, if you keep looking, you'll see a few others: 1. The center of a persons thoughts and emotions, especially love and compassion. 2.Ones mood or feeling 3.The central or innermost part of something. After reading these definitions I began to apply it spiritually. (By the way, that just proves that the Bible is the source for EVERYTHING in this World.) The first definition says that it's the center of a persons thought and emotions, ESPECIALLY love and compassion. If your heart is the center of those two things, then first of all where are your thoughts? Do your thoughts involve uplifting God, or uplifting the World and all it has to "offer"? How about your emotions; have you lost your tears? If you EVER stop crying by just thinking of how good God is, then you definitely need a check up!  Not saying cry all the time, but occasionally you just burst into tears when listening to a song, or reading your Bible. If not, then your emotions, which come from the heart, aren't centered around God. The second definition says that your mood/feelings come from the heart. Are you in a good mood because you read your Bible this morning, or a bad mood because you skipped out on today? Most importantly, where are your feelings towards God? Being embarrassed is a FEELING of being ashamed. Are you ashamed to tell your so called friends about God and all He's one for you? And lastly, the third definition says it's the central or innermost part of something. I've heard it said by my preacher so many times, the heart is always the problem! If you go back to when you first started "straying", it started out with a heart problem. That's simply because it really is the center and innermost part of your sin. I'll give you a few scriptures: Jeremiah 17:9 says "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" and Proverbs 4:23 says "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." I know I'm using a lot of definitions today, but that's just how you dig deeper into God's word. I researched the word "issues", and one of the definitions stated: the action of flowing or coming out. It's amazing how God's word pretty much stated that long before any dictionary.

As always, there's a solution to the problem. I asked you all of those questions for a reason. That reason was for you to do a quick life checkup, just like I had to! I'll give you a few scriptures to remember when it comes to serving God with your WHOLE heart. Psalm 51:10 "Create in me a CLEAN HEART, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." Ask God to give you a clean heart and fill it with His everlasting love and life! 1 Samuel 16:7 "for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart." People can be deceived by the facade that you put on, but God looks at your heart and knows the truth! Psalm 119:2 "Blessed are they that keep his commandments, and that seek him with the WHOLE heart." If you'll seek God with your whole heart, it will make serving him so much sweeter. It says you're blessed if you seek him with your whole heart! Proverbs 10:8 "The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall." If you really want it with your whole heart, you'll be wise and keep God's commandments!

Like I said before, I know it's a bit scattered. But, the main point i'm trying to make here is- if your heart's not in it, then the life you're trying to live doesn't truly matter to you. You may be deceived even by your own self. Take more time out of your day to seek God than you do now. Hope someone got something out of this blog post! I'm only trying to encourage others! As always, IT IS THE BEST LIFE!!! Thank's for reading! - Tatum

Dare To Be a Deborah

Hey Y'all! It's been a few weeks since I last blogged, and I am SO SORRY!! With the Holidays rolling around it's been pretty busy. These past few weeks I've been studying about a woman named Deborah from the book of Judges. Some may know who I'm talking about, and some may not. My Pastor has been going through the book of Judges on Wednesday nights, and I absolutely love it! A few weeks ago we got to the story of Deborah and Barak. I had already been thinking about doing a study on a woman in the Bible, and then God told me she was my woman! So, I read, studied, and researched, and now I'm gonna share with y'all what God gave me.      If you know anything about the book of Judges, you know it's all about Israel's  up and down life of serving the Lord. One day they wanted to do right, and the next they were right back to sinning. So, God raised up these Judges to lead them. In chapter 4, God raises up a woman Judge named Deborah. Just like always, I...

How to Be Spiritually Minded in a World Where it Seems Impossible

I made a post on Instagram recently telling everyone I've been going through the books of Romans and Daniel. Digging deeper into both of them has been SO much fun, but today I want to focus on chapter 8 of Romans. First off I want to say it is NOT hard if you really want it. Having the mindset to serve Christ is so much easier when you really strive to do what's right in God's eyes. So, that being said, how do we stay spiritually minded in a World where it seems "IMPOSSIBLE"? I'm gonna give a list of some things that I KNOW (from experience) ruin our minds, and make us want to live in ways we shouldn't want to.  1. MUSIC      Boy, has this ruined me MANY times! It seems like music is that one HUGE problem most youth have. And yes, people call "my kind of people" crazy for our view on what music you should listen to, but it really does matter!! Take King Saul for example. 1 Samuel 16:23 says " And it came to pass, when the  evil  spirit ...
